I phoned Carmel LImo and tried to book a car ride from the Upper East Side to the Yankees game Saturday; to avoid the dangerous subways. The two operators with whom I spoke, Christine and Andrew, were rude, dismissive, and clearly not New Yorkers. Shameful. I used to look up to people who took car service, and took pride in becoming one of them. Now it just seems like a joke with all the competition that this particular car service can outsource its call service to people who are SO disrespectful. Maybe they are unhappy, underpaid, serfs and trying to sabotage Carmel? Don't know but it seems likely. Dial 7 instead.

We booked Carmel Car and Limousine Service to transport my family (5 people) and my aunt's family (4 people) to transport us from the airport to the hotel when we arrived, and from the hotel to the airport when we had to go. The first trip our car arrived but our aunt's car ended up coming late. We went in our car while she waited and discovered that the drivers was extremely rude.
He talked in the phone using head phones and looked at us badly if we dared to speak among ourselves. He also "asked" for a huge tip saying that it was for tolls and other stuff (My aunt's car got there late but the driver was more pleasent and didn't ask for this fee showing us that our driver was lying). Despite the rough start, we had a beautifull trip in nyc.
By the time we had to leave, we almost forgot about the problem. This time around, only my aunt's car came and the driver refused to call the company and see if the other car was coming. We called the company after my aunt left and they said that there was a misscomunication in their part and our car was never sent. They also told me that all their cars were being used and if we were willing to wait 10 or 15 minutes so they can send another one (we had already paid for everything before arriving to new York).
I told them to please make us a priority because we couldn't loose the flight and they said they would be sure to make us their priority. 15 minutes later I called and another lady answered. She said that our first car was cancelled because "we couldn't wait" and no car was sent to get us. I explained the situation and how I clearly said that we would wait for the car they promised and she said that she would pass me with someone else to get this sorted out.
I wait to minutes while their music plays and a automated message tells me about their incredible services (My father is already talking with the hotel to get us a taxi instead but I'm still trying to see if I can get an answer). Long story short, after waiting for three more minutes this automatic message tells me to visit their webpage and thanks for calling.
They never answered or offered an explanation. We went to the airport in a taxi and are currently writing this review there hoping we get on time. Of course I will never use their service again, just hoping to get a quick refund although it doesnt look likely. Do yourself a favour and don't give those people your money.

Do NOT use this service. The worst! Took car from Newark Airport to NYC to drop my colleague then continuing to Stamford, CT. As we got in the car the driver (who barely spoke English) said "Stamford". I said NYC first. He said no. I said yes. He then argued with me that it's not on his app amd i have to call his company. I look at his app and right there it says "extra stop" with the address in NYC.
We finally head out and he made so many wrong turns. Both my colleague and I told him George Washington Bridge. First he tried to take the tunnel. I stopped him before we did that. Then he gets on 80 WEST! Going 20 minutes put of the way. When we tried to tell him he was making thw wrong access it was too late. I had to give him turn by turn directions from that point and he STILL almost got it wrong.
He had no idea how to use Google maps. He kept moving it manually instead of letting it guide him or hitting the re-center button. I will NEVER AGAIN use this service. If you see that he will be your driver I suggest requesting a different one.

This was my first experience with CARMEL and it was fine. The driver arrived quickly; thr car was spacious and comfortable; and the price was reasonable. I normally use Uber or Lyft. But a friend suggested CARMEL, and I'm glad he did. I was prompted to write this review to earn a $10 credit from CARmel. But I would have written the same review regardless of the incentive.

My wife Bianca and I were married on July 2,2012, and we hired this limousine service to take us to and from the wedding. When we called beforehand we requested an 8-10 person limousine with the "Wedding Package" and we said we needed it to pick us up at our apartment in Manhattan at 3:30 PM and that we would require it until 1:30 A.M.,t o bring us home, and then our babysitter to her home.
We were quoted an hourly rate of $110.00/hour plus gasoline, tolls, and gratuity for the driver. We were told this would amount to $1639.00, and this is the contract we agreed to. We were also told to email our itinerary to them, so the driver could map out our route beforehand, which we did. When the limousine arrived, I told the driver we were going to Coney Island, and he said, " where is that?".
When I told him it was in Brooklyn, he asked how he should get there. I said I'd like him to take us over the Brooklyn Bridge and then the Belt Parkway, and he just said, " I have to go the way the GPS tells me." The limo had wet seats and floors and was unearthly hot, so obviously there was no preparation made for us beforehand. The "Wedding Package" was supposed to include a complimentary bottle of champagne, but there was NOTHING in the car except warm sodas and no ice.
I had grabbed a bottle of Prosecco from the apartment just in case this occurred, and there was nothing provided in the car to take the cork out of the bottle, so one of our wedding party had to use his thumbs to take the cork out. We made it to the event on time, and told the limo driver we wouldn't need him until about 8:30 or 9:00 P.M.,w hen it was time to take our kids home.
He gave me his telephone number, and said to call him when we needed him. We called him around 9:15 PM and packed up the kids and the babysitter, and he left to take them back to Manhattan, and that we last we saw of him or the limousine. We know he dropped the kids off around 10:30 PM, and then when we were wondering if he was coming back to Coney Island, we called him and he said the limousine was a few blocks away, that it had broken down, he was waiting for a tow truck and we should find another ride.
This stranded our entire wedding party, including MY BRIDE ON HER WEDDING DAY, far from home, and without transportation. I was also looking forward to my son getting to see Manhattan from a limo at night on the way home. We eventually found a car service to take us all home at the price of $100.00 (because there was so many of us, we had to get a van), but we had to wait a long time for it to come.
We were not contacted once by the company to explain anything, and our card was charged OVER what the initial quote was, constituting FRAUD so by all means use this company if you enjoy paying for nothing. We were told to email our complaints to Joseph at LX-Limo and they would be addressed, but he completely ignored them for a week, and then scoffed at them when contacted by phone.
