It's a beautiful castle by the sea on one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. The hotel is historic and elegant. Luxurious and modern. Fantastic staff and guest service. Great location. I'm looking forward to staying there again. Obviously, I highly recommend. Get an ocean view room. Worth every penny.

A beautiful historic hotel with some tasteful modern additional rooms. High quality accommodation and good service as you would expect at such a prestigious hotel. However our enjoyment was marred by some rip-off aspects:- 1. Min table spend on the Sun Deck at the weekend (even for hotel guests) was $400. 2. A guided tour of the historic hotel priced at $40 per person 3. Sun beds & parasol on the beach $90 -- so what's the resort fee for?

An landmark hotel updated to standards. This is a beautiful old hotel that shares a beach with US Navy SEALS. Rooms are updated and nice. Service is excellent across the board. Mornings and evenings by the water are beautiful. The downside is everything is expensive - a bottle of water is currently $11.00 and the breakfast buffet just under $50.00 / person.

Make sure to stay in the "Views" or "Cabanas" building if you want a modern hotel feel. The other buildings are pretty tight and designed in 1888. Amazing hotel with great drinks and service. The beach is right at your feet and steps away from the hotel door. The staff is very friendly too. They have beautiful sand with black and gold flakes.

Beautiful hotel and resort. The grounds are gorgeous and they do a lot of things well in terms of aesthetics. I think food options and restaurant accommodations could be better and more diverse; however, there are lots of options in town. Stay in one of the renovated parts if possible for the best accommodations. They don't provide room service and also do not service rooms, but they do accommodate requests for room cleaning easily. I feel for the cost, a quick room refresh should be standard though. Beach access/amenities and pool ambiance/service were great.

This is my second stay at this property. You can feel the history of it as you walk around the grounds and stroll through the hallways. The Smoked Salmon bagel was my go to breakfast more than a couple times. The cherrizo was very tasty also. The rooms are a mixed bag - it's my understanding that they are in the process of upgrading them now so I hope to see more consistency on my next visit.

This place is flat out amazing! Right in the beach in Coronado. It's an older hotel but the building is very elegant and clean. Some great restaurants to meet everyone's food needs. From the taco shack on the beach to the restaurants in the hotel, something for everyone. A handful of good shops but it's also within 5 min walk to more shopping and restaurants. Book early and show up before check in. They'll hold your bags while you hit the beach, pool, restaurants or bar. Definitely kid friendly and recommend coming here!

On a recent birthday trip, we had the chance to stay at the Del Coronado. I honestly can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. The location was spectacular, the Victorian building we stayed in was charming and comfortable, the staff were all so friendly and helpful. It was spectacular. Special shout out to Corey Menotti and Rebekkah St. Martin for helping resolve a room problem for us.
We also had one server at the bar that took such good care of us. I wish I had gotten his name. The food prices, like many hotels, was outrageously expensive. But, there were many fine restaurants within easy walking distance. So, you could easily choose convenience or budget options. Coronado is a special place and "The Del" was part of making it special. Loved the beach access and views. Can't wait to go back.

If you want to spend your stay based purely on the views and historic value, stay somewhere else and come visit the property. If you make the unfortunate mistake of staying at the hotel the following is what you will experience. You will be greeted with outrageous parking fees, 30+ for self park, 70+ for valet per night. You will then be pressured into upgrading your room if you decided to book a room at the Victorian.
This seemed to come from either bad training or incentives for staff to get a customer to upgrade. You will have zero availability to get a reservation at the one semi decent restaurant on site. You will be ignored by the bartenders at an empty bar. When you have not slept because of the noise levels inside of your lopsided room in the Victorian, you will got to check out at 6am.
The last thing to finish off your time will not be being asking how you enjoyed your stay, it will be do you want your receipt. You don't want it because you read this review and never bothered paying premium for a terrible vacation. Ill be happy to know you enjoyed your time in place of our awful experience. I am sure that's the only good thing that will come from our stay.
